Slow Rail puts you in the cab of a little country railcar with nowhere to be in a hurry. Ease off from the platform, brake early for the next halt, open the doors and wait while people get on. The Hollin Line runs past a lake, through birch woods and a 600 m tunnel and over a viaduct to the harbour; the Marsh Line is flat and salty, with a swing bridge and a lighthouse. Sheep wander onto the line, the signaller calls on the cab radio, and the light changes from early morning to dusk as you go.
